Want To Book Flights Or Order Groceries? There’s An AI Agent for That!
Big tech is racing to push AI to the next level. However, some people are already using AI agents to handle their daily tasks. Shopping. Gaming. Even self-driving cars.
These AI agents don’t just chat. They take action. Make decisions. Do the work for you. Like a personal assistant, but smarter. “We’re moving toward a future where everyone has their own AI assistant,” says Tammy Madsen, a strategy professor at Santa Clara University.
Last month, OpenAI introduced Operator, an AI agent built to handle real-world tasks. It books dinner reservations. Buys basketball tickets. Orders groceries for a recipe. All are based on your preferences. Google just launched an AI co-scientist, a system of multiple agents working together.
Businesses are all in. AI-powered tools are replacing human roles in customer support, travel booking, and job recruiting. Companies like Salesforce and Microsoft are rolling out platforms that let businesses build their own AI agents.
Tech leaders are paying attention. Aaron Levie, CEO of Box, shared a video of Operator managing secure document exchanges—something usually done by humans.
This is a step beyond chatbots. Generative AI exploded in 2022 with ChatGPT. But those models only predict text responses. They don’t act. AI agents do. And they’re getting more powerful.
Now, they handle schedules, book flights, manage investments, and even track health goals. “The big question,” says Madsen, “is what happens when we rely on AI for everything”.
At the Super Bowl, AI made its way into ads. Salesforce had Matthew McConaughey promoting its AI assistant for booking restaurants. The message was clear: AI is here. And it’s personal.
Here's Operator from OpenAI building a Due Diligence portal for an M&A transaction of TikTok on Box. The Agent creates a folder structure, the initial set of docs, and then researches on the web for data. In the future, AI Agents just do work for you in the background.

Not everyone is excited. “AI will make companies more efficient,” says Param Singh from Carnegie Mellon. “But it’s also taking over entry-level jobs.” Humans will still be needed to guide these agents. AI isn't perfect. Mistakes happen. Like a Waymo driverless taxi that drove in circles instead of to the airport.
Right now, AI agents work best with repetitive tasks in controlled environments. They struggle with complex, high-stakes decisions. One mistake in the wrong place could cause major problems. “If it’s a dynamic situation,” Singh says, “we can’t fully trust AI yet.”
Still, AI agents aren’t new. Siri, Alexa, and Google Home were early versions. But those tools only followed simple voice commands. Today’s AI agents have real autonomy. They can think, plan, and act.
Some experts worry people will become too dependent. Others believe AI will free up time for deeper thinking and creativity.
“The key,” Madsen says, “is knowing you’re still in control. AI should help you, not the other way around.”
AI Meets the Metaverse: Nifty Island Lets Creators Drop AI Agents In 3D
Nifty Island just leveled up. The Ethereum-based metaverse game now lets players drop AI agents into their islands. These aren’t just static bots. They chat, dance, and interact—turning in-game spaces into living worlds.
Players can choose from AI agents like Luna, AgentYP, or VaderAI. Or they can build their own. Once placed, these agents respond in real-time, even taking actions on-chain. “We’re bringing the hottest trends on-chain into Nifty,” says founder Charles Smith. “First, NFTs and meme coins. Now, AI agents.”
Until now, crypto-native AI mostly lived on X, functioning as chatbots. Nifty Island changes that. It brings AI into games. A big shift.
By default, players can only place agents on their own islands. But holding 100,000 ISLAND tokens (worth nearly $3,000) unlocks the ability to deploy AI agents across all islands. These AI can even tap into game knowledge—learning island names, points of interest, and upcoming quests.
AI agents are blowing up in crypto. They’re reshaping trading, security, and DeFi automation. According to Sellers Commerce, the AI agent market is set to grow over 500%, jumping from $7.38 billion in 2023 to $47 billion by 2030. Smith sees them transforming gameplay too. “They’ll hand out prizes, chat with players, and eventually help create and play,” he says.
Nifty Island isn’t stopping here. It’s expanding. The platform is integrating Ronin, Ethereum’s gaming sidechain. It also launched ISLAND tokens on Solana.
The ISLAND token is key to Nifty Island’s in-game economy. The project made waves with its “play-to-airdrop” campaign, which wrapped in December 2024. Early adopters were rewarded. Now, the token fuels the metaverse. AI is changing gaming. And Nifty Island is leading the charge.
Genial Secures $1.9M To Build AI Agents That Will Transform Travel
Genial, a France-based AI startup, just secured 1.8 million euros ($1.9 million) in its first funding round. The goal? To build smarter AI agents for tourism and leisure businesses.
Huttopia and Crédit Agricole led the funding, which includes investments from Crédit Agricole Aquitaine Expansion and Crédit Agricole La Réunion —Mayotte. Genial reposted the news on LinkedIn after an EU-Startups report.
Genial isn’t just another AI firm. It helps businesses become AI-ready by training teams, exploring AI use cases, and developing custom solutions. The company’s platform, Agents-as-a-Service, lets businesses manage AI-driven sales, marketing, and customer relations.
Half of Genial’s customers come from the tourism sector. With fresh funding, it’s expanding. Plans include developing more AI agents, launching AI-powered search tools, and pushing global growth. The team is expected to double from its current 20 employees.
AI is making waves in travel and hospitality. Airlines and hotels are leaning in, especially for customer service. A PYMNTS Intelligence report reveals that 52% of hospitality businesses expect AI to play a role in guest interactions. Another 44% believe it will enhance engagement.
Booking Holdings CEO Glenn Fogel calls generative AI a “game-changer.” He sees it driving personalized travel planning and frictionless experiences. “It’s redefining how people experience the world,” Fogel said in a recent earnings call.
The industry is already shifting. In July, Lighthouse launched Channel Manager, an AI-powered tool for travel and hospitality. It automates demand analysis, pricing, and bookings.
Genial is riding this AI wave. With new funding, it’s set to push boundaries and bring smarter AI solutions to businesses worldwide.
