AI Agents Want to Control Your Computer, But Are You Ready?

They can order groceries, book rides, and find the best flight deals.

What’s trending?

  • AI agents will be using computers like humans soon.

  • Agents to transform the customer service.

  • 2025 will be the year of agents.

AI Agents Want to Control Your Computer, But Are You Ready?

Two years after ChatGPT kicked off the generative AI craze, AI assistants feel normal. They sit in your browser, on your phone, always ready to answer. Nothing special anymore. The next big shift? AI agents that don’t just respond. They act. But right now, only power users like coders get to play with them. Everyday people? Not yet.

That’s changing fast. Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and OpenAI are testing AI that can use computers like humans. These agents browse, click, and fill out forms. They can order groceries, book rides, and find the best flight deals. Right now, their abilities are limited. But the direction is clear.

“This is just the AI clicking around”.

Sam Altman

OpenAI’s Sam Altman said this, watching the Operator search OpenTable for a dinner reservation. The AI handled the task. No human is needed.

Zachary Lipton from Carnegie Mellon says AI agents already exist in specialized software—helping sales teams, doctors, and lawyers. But general users haven’t had access. Now, that’s changing. AI is starting to handle routine laptop tasks. The idea of people handing over control? Intriguing.

AI Agents from the Big Three

  • Anthropic went first in October. Its Claude chatbot now interacts with computers like a person. It views screenshots, tracks pixels, and clicks. Developers get early access.

  • Google DeepMind followed with Project Mariner in December. It runs only in Chrome, only in the active tab. A safety measure, for now.

  • OpenAI released Operator in January. It’s a $200-per-month research preview. The goal? Expand beyond browsers, maybe to desktop apps.

These agents plan tasks step by step. Need a specific type of onion? They pause and ask. Before booking a dinner or placing an order, they double-check with the user. Smart move.

Safety First, Always

There are limits. AI agents can’t log in, agree to terms, solve captchas, or enter payment info. Hit one of those? The AI hands back control. OpenAI promises Operator won’t screenshot while users enter sensitive data.

But risks remain. Prompt injection attacks are a major concern. Malicious prompts could trick AI into unexpected actions. Anthropic already warned about it. Lipton says companies haven’t shared enough details to judge the risks. If bad actors control an AI agent, does that mean they already have access to the device? If so, why not act directly?

With AI handling online purchases, it’s easy to imagine things going wrong. Someone waking up to find their AI bought 20 TVs. Or worse.

What’s Next?

No release dates yet, but AI agents are coming. Big tech will push them. Startups will make cheaper versions. The shift is happening.

OpenAI’s Yash Kumar says Operator is just the beginning. A step toward AI handling everyday tasks. Less time wasted. More efficiency.

Think back to Her (2013). Before AI got emotional, it was just a handy digital assistant managing messages and errands. That’s the world we’re moving into. And after that? AI companies might start working on something a little more personal.

From Reactive to Proactive: How AI Agents Are Revolutionizing Customer Service

Gupshup, a global conversational AI platform, just launched its AI Agent Library. What’s that? A suite of 15 pre-built, customizable AI agents for industries like e-commerce, real estate, and fintech. They help businesses move fast—boost revenue, sharpen customer interactions, and run smoother operations.

AI Agents: The Future of Business Conversations

AI agents are smart programs that interact with users and complete tasks. Gupshup’s agents go beyond basic chatbots. They plan, execute, and learn, handling real, multi-turn conversations using top-tier LLMs like ChatGPT, Llama, and DeepSeek.

How AI Agents Are Changing Businesses

At the launch, Beerud Sheth, Gupshup’s founder, showed how AI is evolving. From answering FAQs to handling full conversations, these AI agents can take over first-level screenings, especially for small and mid-sized businesses.

“A company gets hundreds of calls daily—how many are actually worth their time? AI can filter them. First, it handles 20%. Then 40%. Soon, 80–90%. Maybe even full automation,” says Sheth.

AI Agents for B2C Engagement

Designed for marketing, sales, and customer service, these AI Agents work seamlessly across WhatsApp, SMS, RCS, Voice, Web, and Mobile. They integrate with backend systems, making them easy to deploy.

Sheth insists AI isn’t magic. It needs structured training. “Every business is different. You can’t just plug in AI and expect it to work. You train it, just like human agents,” he explains.

Key Features

  • Personalized Interactions – AI tracks past chats and integrates with data systems.

  • Built-in Trust & Safety – Guardrails prevent AI from straying, keeping brand voice intact.

  • Advanced Analytics – Businesses get deep insights, helping them improve AI responses.

AI Agents in Action

  • Lead Generation AI Agent – Automates lead collection, qualification, and drip campaigns.

  • Product Discovery AI Agent – Helps customers find what they need, boosting sales.

  • Order Management AI Agent – Handles tracking, returns, and delivery management.

Easy Setup, Full Control

Unlike old-school chatbots that take months to build, Gupshup’s AI Agents deploy fast. Simple prompts define engagement rules, personality, and brand voice. They also integrate smoothly with third-party tools while keeping security tight. Built-in hallucination controls ensure interactions stay accurate.

Trusted by Big Brands

Companies like Petromin, Reserva, and Lenskart are already using Gupshup’s AI Agents. With over 45,000 clients in 60 countries, Gupshup is changing how businesses talk to customers. Is this the future of AI-powered interactions? Looks like it.

The AI Agents of 2025: How They’ll Transform Work & Life

Stepping into 2025, one AI trend is stealing the spotlight—AI-powered agents. These aren’t just futuristic dreams. They’re here. And they’re changing everything. Workflows? Streamlined. Tasks? Automated. People? Free to focus on the big stuff.

AI agents do it all—handling repetitive tasks, optimizing workflows, and making life easier. Remember 2024? Microsoft Copilot showed us how AI could boost productivity. Now, AI adoption is skyrocketing. Reports say generative AI usage jumped from 55% in 2023 to 75% in 2024. That’s huge. Companies are seeing $3.70 in returns for every $1 spent on AI. Who wouldn’t want that?

Kalin Dimtchev, Microsoft’s Adriatic Country Manager, says it best: “AI-powered agents with better memory, reasoning, and multimodal skills will reshape industries. They’ll help people interact with tech in smarter, faster ways.”

Businesses are catching on fast. AI is no longer a “nice to have.” It’s a must. Companies using AI agents respond quicker, improve service, and boost efficiency. The potential? Massive. AI could drive entire economies forward.

But there’s a catch. How much control should these agents have? Should humans always be in the loop? That’s the debate. Companies need ethical guardrails—AI must be powerful but responsible.

AI-powered agents aren’t just another tech trend. They’re a game-changer. As they evolve, they’ll redefine how we work, interact, and innovate. The big question? Are businesses ready for it?
